In August I was nominated as the Most Influential Woman in Arizona Business for 2021. Out of 2,200 women, 50 were chosen as the Most Influential Women and only six were spotlighted. I was honored to receive the Outstanding Achievement in Leadership spotlight. This award allowed me to reflect on some of my proudest accomplishments throughout my career. It is important to acknowledge the results of hard work, but not to lose sight of where you’re going and the lessons you have learned.

Read or watch some remarks from the Influential Women interviews below.

“My proudest professional accomplishment is the opportunity to work with world renowned physicians and launch a new era of medical education with Creighton University. Our amazing physicians are innovators, scientists, and mentors. They inspire me each day to think of new ways to deliver healthcare services and they motivate us all to elevate the level of care we provide to the community. It’s a privilege to work in healthcare and to mentor others who want to pursue a healthcare career

“I am also extremely proud to be part of Dignity Health, but before joining CommonSpirit Health I was the CEO and president of a hospital in Palm Beach Florida. This particular executive role was significant to me and the community because in the late 1970s my grandmother actually served patient meals at that hospital. Little did she know that 35 years later ,and unfortunately after she passed away, that her granddaughter would be the president and CEO of that same facility. It was a very humbling experience.

“There are many lessons that I will take away from the pandemic including the power of prayer, resiliency, the importance of transformation and innovation. However the most powerful lesson was the tremendous impact of ‘Hello Humankindness.’ As a healthcare leader, all of these lessons have profoundly impacted me and our organization during the pandemic.

“I would like to express gratitude for all of the health care workers, for our physicians, for our nurses, our respiratory therapists, our EVS workers; not just at Dignity Health but at all the health care facilities across the state of Arizona, everyone that is helping to save the lives of our Arizona residents. I just want to pause and say thank you to our health care workers for being the heroes we needed this year.”
