A workplace sponsor is someone senior in a company who is able to guide and influence your progress through the maze and politics of organizational advancement.

Everyone wants a sponsor, but the question is, how do you find one?

You cannot ask for one. You have to put yourself in the strike zone, make yourself stand out. Be a winner. Once you shine as the smartest and most hardworking, you will stand out. Everyone wants to be behind a winner, so a sponsor will choose you as their protégé. Be your own best advocate. Executives and higher managers would not want to tarnish their own reputations by sponsoring someone who does not have a glowing record.
