I’ve always believed in the power of community and the importance of uplifting those around us. For me, it’s not just about driving change within organizations; it’s about fostering connections and nurturing the potential of individuals in my community.
My passion for community is at the heart of everything I do, reflected in initiatives like the Barbee Book Club. More than just a space for literature, it’s a commitment to uplifting the next generation.
At a pivotal moment in my life, I found myself consumed by work, questioning how I would truly be remembered. The answer, I realized, lay in giving back. I decided to repay every nonprofit scholarship I had received from the community that supported my education. Once I fulfilled that promise, I took it a step further — I chose a student with a compelling story, someone who needed a helping hand, and committed to covering their books and supplies for four years of college.
The Barbee Book Club embodies this spirit of paying it forward. Recipients are not expected to repay me; rather, my hope is that, one day, they will extend the same generosity to someone else. Through this, we create a cycle of support, ensuring that education remains a pathway to opportunity.
To me, one of life’s most compelling questions is: How will you be remembered? My answer is through action, through community, and through the belief that we rise by lifting others.
I want to leave a legacy of compassion, support, and commitment to community. It’s about more than just achieving personal success; it’s about making a positive impact on the lives of others.
In every role I’ve held, my emphasis on community and people has been at the forefront. By fostering connections, supporting education, and encouraging dialogue, I strive to create a lasting impact. Ultimately, it’s about building a better future for all — one where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered to succeed.
