Dr. Rebekah Gee, the Louisiana State University Healthcare Services Division CEO is the former Secretary of Health for the state of Louisiana in February. As a driver of positive change and health equity advocate, Dr. Gee used her time in government to create policy change with lasting effects on the welfare of Louisiana’s citizens. Although her fight was for the good of the community, it did not come without opposition. She persevered through constant Republican attacks on her pro-abortion beliefs, her Medicaid expansion and more. Dr. Gee sat down with Dan Diamond of the Pulse Check’s podcast to reflect on her time as the state’s Secretary of Health and the struggles she overcame.

The episode starts with a sentiment from Dr. Gee, “As a leader and policymaker, hope is a prerequisite.”
