Optimizing team dynamics can be a complex and ongoing process, but there are several steps that leaders can take to improve team dynamics and create a more productive and positive working environment.

Recently, I read an article published by Forbes titled “Three Ways To Start The Year Strong With Your Team”. Having built several dynamic teams and excelled in leadership roles, this article was an interesting read. It describes three crucial steps which leaders should adopt to build strong, resilient teams.

  1. Optimise team dynamics by focusing on shared purpose

To create a strong team, optimizing team dynamics is essential. Team dynamic refers to how the team communicates, collaborates and cooperates. With a strong, positive team dynamic, the team is likely to achieve more than with teams with a weak team dynamic. This is particularly because they have an open communication and are aligned around a common, shared purpose.

“Working toward a shared purpose acts as the glue binding your team together. When everyone knows what they’re contributing to and why, your team grows stronger and more dedicated to the cause.”

2. Foster inclusion by creating a psychologically safe space at work

A culture of inclusivity is essential for the growth of businesses. With creating a safe and inclusive environment, the team is empowered to be more engaged and feel more supported. This eventually aids in enhancing their productivity and business growth.

“Businesses must strive to create a culture of inclusivity as part of their brand and strategy”

3. Boost belonging for your team member to improve team performance

A sense of belonging is essential to unlocking the optimal productivity of the team member. When people feel like they belong, team performance and outcomes are improved.

“The secret sauce to resilient, inclusive, and high-performing teams is belonging”

Optimizing team dynamics, fostering inclusion and creating belonging are three amazing pillars for strengthening your teams. Teams work at their best when they share purpose, when they are heard and supported and when they feel a sense of belonging with one another.
