Veja x Mansur Gavriel: The Latest On-Trend and Sustainable Spring Sneaker Collaboration- Igor Poza
The biggest collaboration of this Spring between French sneaker label, Veja and New York-based accessories brand, Mansur Gavriel recently launched a fun, fresh, and sustainable sneaker collection that is gaining a lot of buzz. Both of these brands are loved by A-list celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon, Emily Ratajkowski, Kirsten Dunst, and royals Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. Together, the two brands collaborated to design a minimalistic, yet exciting collection that stays true to each company’s values of sustainability.
In addition to being popular brands loved by many, Veja and Mansur Gavriel were created by founders inspired by entrepreneurship and sustainability and driven by beautiful design, elevated quality, and affordable price positioning. This limited-edition collection features the style of Veja’s Campo sneaker in 4 bright colors inspired by Mansur Gavriel. This sneaker comes in 4 colors, all of which are inspired by the rainbow and represent an element of nature — bright blue for the clear sky, neutral for sand, warm yellow for sunshine, and vibrant pink for hibiscus flowers. The Veja x Mansur Gavriel style is gender-neutral, available in sizes 35 to 46, and retails for $175.
“We love how the Campo is an icon for Veja. It’s clean and classic. We liked the idea of using something that really stands for their brand and adding our DNA to it. The color palette is very MG — bright, fresh, and graphic. It is very much inspired by the incredible colors one can find in nature.” (Glamour)
In addition to its aesthetic design elements, the sneakers stayed true to Veja’s sustainable design. “These sneakers, like all from the brand, have a vulcanized sole that is bio-sourced. Veja uses up to 65% of recycled materials including rice waste, Amazon rubber, and recycled rubber. The actual shoe itself is made of ChromeFree leather, certified by the Leather Alliance, meaning no acid or heavy metals were used in the tanning process. By simplifying the tanning process, the use of chemicals and energy is limited, the use of water is reduced by about 40%, and the use of salt by 80% — after tanning, the water is recyclable.” (Grazia)
